Released Debian 8.5 with security fixes

The Debian project is pleased to announce the fifth update Debian 8.5 on June 04, 2016 of its stable distribution Debian 8 (codename “jessie”). This update mainly adds corrections for security problems to the stable release, along with a few adjustments for serious problems. Security advisories were already published separately and are referenced where available.

All security patches pushed from, whoever frequently install updates from they will get very less no of packages.

important Changes

autofs :Remove stray debugging output in log files.
clamav :New upstream release
debian-edu-config :Backport various bug fixes
debian-installer :Rebuild against proposed-updates; add sata-modules for arm64 – some machines do have SATA CD
hexchat Verify :hostnames when ssl is in use
libreoffice :Fix build failure on ppc64el due to changes in OpenJDK; fix logic to not install sound files

Upgrade Debian 8.5

Just fire the below command to update.

$ sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

Use the below command to check the upgraded version

$ lsb_release -a
