The Ubuntu team is pleased to announce the first maintenance update of Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS (Long-Term Support) on
July 21st, 2016 for Desktop, Server, Cloud & other flavours of Ubuntu (Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Mythbuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu MATE and Ubuntu Studio). This the first maintenance update of the stable release of Ubuntu 16.04.
As usual, this point release includes many updates (bug fixes) such as installation media, Kernel and Hardware support, security update & Upgrade bugs to Desktop, Server & Cloud. Also corrections for other high-impact bugs, with a focus on maintaining stability and compatibility with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
Maintenance updates will be provided for 5 years for Ubuntu Desktop, Ubuntu Server, Ubuntu Cloud, Ubuntu Base, and Ubuntu Kylin. All the remaining flavors will be supported for 3 years.
Users are advised to upgrade the first maintenance update of Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS by firing below simple command.
$ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
